This particular model was imported for the folks at The Cutlery Shoppe by BlackJack Knives. The knives were Made for Blackjack by G. Sakai in Seki, Japan. According to Mike Stewart former CEO of BlackJack Knives only about 300 of these knives was brought into the U.S. by BlackJack. As far as I know the knives were only offered with a black Kraton handle that had a hardness of 75 on the durometer scale,  and a black leather sheath.  The ridges on the handle and the shape of the butt of the knife are very similar and surely were heavily influenced by an older Pacific Cutlery Tanto that was designed by Kuzan Oda. I am fairly sure that knife was made for Pacific Cutlery by G. Sakai as well.  Apparently many of the Teton Bowies were not marked with the BlackJack name and logo. I do not know if any other companies imported these knives or not. The knives were of course re-sharpened by BlackJack in the U.S. as they were never satisfied with the edges that knives made in Japan had. Note that the example shown below is stamped Teton Bowie on one side, and Seki Japan on the other. This was done in Japan. Also note that the knife is etched with the BlackJack name and logo on one side and Hand Finished in Effingham, IL. U.S.A. on the other. These markings were applied in Effingham with the companies usual method of marking knives which was done with an electrochemical process.
